There are two types of wire payments that are supported by the SWIFT network: Wire SHARED and Wire OURs.
Most bill payment platforms prefer to use Wire SHARED.
Wires SHARED means that costs of the transaction are being shared between you and any intermediary bank. As such, your vendors will not receive the full amount processed to them as there may be potential intermediary fees. While this approach might come with a cheaper transaction fee, it leads to unhappy vendors who end up feeling shortchanged.
When wires are sent as OURs, it instructs any intermediary to charge the sender for any fees, meaning that the full amount is delivered to the vendor's bank account.
Airbase sends all international wires over the Wire OURs method to ensure that your vendors don’t receive less than the invoiced amount.
